Mary Lane, known as Nurse Mary Lane during her time at Camp Nightwing in 1978, is a resident of Shadyside, Ohio, United States and a supporting character in the Fear Street Trilogy. She is the mother of Ruby Lane and close friend of Christine "Ziggy" Berman.
She is portrayed by Jordana Spiro.
Before 1978[]
Mary Lane was born sometime around 1925 where she eventually gave birth to a daughter in 1949. Mary was very supportive of her daughter's interests and supported her throughout her childhood and school life up until Ruby seemingly snapped one night and killed her friends and boyfriend and then finally herself, not believing her daughter just snapped without a reason, Mary spent from 1965 trying to find out the truth and eventually prior to the 12th July 1978, she gained a job at Camp Nightwing.
1978[]
During her time at Nightwing, Mary discovered that it was built on the same land as the settlement and attempted to learn what really happened to her daughter, on the 19th of July she ended up wrapping a bandage around the burn mark of Ziggy where the two found themselves talking about the curse and about Ruby, When Mary continued zoning out she began unintentionally tightening the bandage which caused Ziggy to get her to stop. After that, Mary found herself in the Witch's Mark and was able to find the wall which had every killer's name carved onto it where she saw Tommy's name carved under Ruby's. Not wanting to deal with the same problem again Mary went to kill the former, She had grabbed the closest knife upon getting into the mess hall cabin and apologised to Tommy for being unable to save him before going to stab him, she was overpowered however when Tommy fought back and Mary was rendered unconscious, her attack was also witnessed by Cindy who had been cleaning the cabin for later that day. Authorities and paramedics were called to the scene and Mary was taken away.
1994[]
After the Nightwing massacre, Mary at some point retired and continued living in Shadyside. On the same night that Deena, her friends and her brother were being stalked, Kate left the kids that she and Simon were babysitting in the care of Mary which the nurse agreed to. Once the curse ended on the 3rd of October, Mary was greeted by a now grown Ziggy who came to see her again after not seeing her since 1978 and gave her a book.
