Camp Nightwing was a summer camp for the residents of Shadyside and Sunnyvale. and is where the Camp Nightwing Massacre occurred. After the massacre, it was closed down and turned into Shadyside Mall.
It is the primary location in Fear Street Part 2: 1978.
History[]
During the summer of 1938, Camp Nightwing was established with Color War being one of its activities, Sunnyvale wins every summer until the camp's closure in 1978.
Prior to the 12th of July, 1978, several young adults from both Shadyside and Sunnyvale were hired to be counsellors with one being Nicholas "Nick" Goode the eldest son of the late Joseph Goode. During the same week, Christine "Ziggy" Berman began to cause trouble and due to her behavior, she was seen as an outcast only to befriend the camp's nurse, Mary Lane.
Wednesday, July 19, 1978[]
During the morning of the 19th, Ziggy made her way into the cabin in which Sheila, a camper, was assigned to and stole money from her though she was soon discovered and chased to the Hanging Tree by Sheila, William "Will" Goode and their friends, Annie and Becky, where Sheila, wanting to punish Ziggy, demanded a lighter from Will who after hesitation, handed it over causing Sheila to burn Ziggy's arm only to be stopped by the arrival of Nick and Kurt. The latter, annoyed by Ziggy's past discretions, chooses to send her home by declaring she had enough chances only to be told not to by Nick who pointed out that Ziggy's burn mark would lead to questions. After leaving, Nick tried to bond with the former only for her to brush him off.
Cindy Berman, the older sister of Ziggy, helped Thomas "Tommy" Slater by cleaning the outhouses to rid it off the red moss that was growing around the area. Annoyed by the constant scrubbing, Cindy realised that Alice and Arnie, two other counsellors were missing and left to find them. Inside one of the cabins, Cindy discovered the two having sexual intercourse but still demanded they do their chores once they finished. The two then accept to do their jobs only if they get drugs as payment to which Cindy begrudgingly agrees to. Outside, she is then founded by Kurt who picks up on the scent of drugs though Cindy dismisses it claiming it is another smell and leaving to find her younger sister.
While being treated for her burn wound, Ziggy asks Mary about Ruby Lane, the daughter of the nurse and who had been sacrificed to Satan the previous decade in 1965. As Mary reminisces, she starts to accidentally harm and put pressure onto Ziggy's arm causing the latter to snap her back into reality. Soon after, Cindy enters the cabin and leaves with her sister in tow where outside, she shows concern for Ziggy though Ziggy continues to dismiss her older sister's worries upon listening to her believe that there was a reasonable explanation for the Shadyside Killers and not the work of a witch. The sisters then argued over the predicament with Cindy believing she would be able to leave Shadyside in the future though Ziggy tells her to remember where she lived and that leaving was not as easy.
Before lunch, Cindy and Tommy clean the mess hall cabin as the former talks to Tommy about her encounter with Alice but eventually stopping once her anger causes her to tear a sponge in half. She then leaves Tommy to get another one though upon returning, she finds the room empty just before Tommy returns but are then founded by Mary who attempts to kill Tommy by claiming that she had seen his name and therefore had to do it. Tommy is then injured but fends off his attacker knocking the nurse out. Upon discovering this, paramedics and police are called to investigate where Tommy and Cindy insist that they only went to Mary for bug spray.
One officer, Officer Kapinsky, manages to talk with Nick, giving his condolences due to the death of Nick's father, Joseph Goode, Nick thanks him for his well wishes. Kapinsky then tells the counsellor to take it easy on him when he becomes the Sheriff.
During lunchtime Kurt excited the Sunnyvale camper by proudly proclaiming that their town had never lost a game of Color War ever since 1938. Joan, who had began to romantically start to like Kurt, attempted to excite the Shadyside campers though they did not show any enthusiasm.
As the game of Capture The Flag commenced, Tommy began to hear voices which concerned Jeremy, a young camper, Tommy insisted that he was fine but was told by Cindy to go and rest to which he did.
That night, Cindy and Tommy found themselves in the medical cabin where they were found by Alice and Arnie who believed the two were there for drugs though Cindy denied it. Cindy then discovered a small bottle of pills that was unlabeled to which she attributed to when Mary had attacked Tommy earlier. When Alice discovered Mary's journal and a map, Cindy recognised it as a map of Union, the place that existed before Shadyside and Sunnyvale existed. The four then left to find Sarah Fier's grave.
Despite not seeing eye-to-eye that morning, Ziggy begins to bond with Nick and tells him about how life is for her in Shadyside, stating that she had never gotten along with her sister with Nick affirming that while from Sunnyvale, he is still expected to be the perfect child
As the four found themselves in the Witch's Mark, Arnie stayed behind with Tommy who was still experiencing his headaches though once Tommy succumbed to the curse, he grabbed an ax and killed Arnie before attempting to do the same with Cindy and Alice before they escaped from her. Tommy then left the Mark to continue the Camp Nightwing Massacre. When Jeremy's body was discovered, Color War was cancelled and the survivors were placed into the mess hall until the buses returned to camp to pick up the campers and counsellors.
Around the same time, Joan and Kurt stowed away into another cabin where they had sexual intercourse. Though Joan insisted Shadysiders were better at sex, Kurt berated her for the weed joint she had rolled. Joan was then murdered by Tommy after Kurt had left the room. Inside the mess hall, Ziggy insists she should be the one to go find Cindy though is convinced not to by Nick who volunteers to do it for her with Gary's help.
Though Cindy and Alice are founded by Gary, the latter is then decapitated by Tommy and his head falls through the hole and down below. Upon making their way back into camp, Alice, Ziggy and Cindy reunited in another cabin in order to find Sarah's body after finding the hand though Alice is murdered before the three can make it to the tree. The Berman sisters then left the cabin in order to stop the curse only to be chased down by William "Billy" Barker, Harry Rooker, Ruby and Tommy with Harry and Tommy killing the siblings.
The two are then founded by Nick who resuscitates Ziggy using an incantation and leaving Cindy for dead. After getting Ziggy to the paramedics, Nick declares Ziggy as Christine Berman causing her to be known as the sole survivor of the Camp Nightwing Massacre.
